Schedule for Summer 1997
In the summer, the course was offered in a three week period, four days a week, five hours per day with 2 hour projects. The modules used in this summer's course were developed
during the ACEPT Science/Math Teacher Workshop in May and June 1997. Faculty from
several Maricopa County Community Colleges, Navajo Community College, Phoenix USI, and ASU developed science and math modules under the direction of Susan Wyckoff
and Marilyn Carlson, using the Learning Cycle method as a template for developing the modules. Twenty-four REU undergraduates from around the country helped in the development of the modules and assisted in their implementation in the Patterns in Nature course. Topics ranged from atomic energy levels to bungie-jumping eggs.
The course schedule was as follows:
|
| | Week | Topic |
| 1 | Microscopes and Hyperstudio |
| 2 | Color and Light |
| 3 | ACEPT Modules and Assessment |
