All the major areas of the ACEPT Website are accessible from the ACEPT Homepage. If you are using a frames capable browser (eg. Netscape or Internet Explorer), it is possible to quickly jump to different areas of the website by clicking on the appropriate button in the navigation frame down the left side of your browser window.
In addition, there are navigation links back to the ACEPT homepage, the search engine, and this page at the bottom of all the areas that are part of ACEPT's "top level website."
Note: Frames navigation is not a part of the Patterns in Nature website nor the PHS 110 website. Navigation through these sites will be slightly different.
Frames vs No Frames
Frames can be turned on or off by clicking on the "frames" or "no frames" links at the bottom of the page below the navigation links.
Recommended System Settings
The ACEPT website is best viewed when your computer is configured with the following settings:
- Your screen should be set to a resolution of 800x600 or higher.
- Your color depth (the number of colors you can display at the same time) should be set to 32,768 colors (also known as 15-bit color) or higher.
Settings below these requirements should still work fine, however many of the graphics on our site may look "grainy" at lower color-depths, and many pages may appear to be rather compressed in width at lower resolutions.
- In MacOS you can change your color-depth and screen resolution in the Monitors and Sound control panel, found in the apple-menu, control-panels drop-box.
- Under Win95/NT this can be accomplished using the Display Properties dialogue box under the settings tab, which can be accessed by right clicking on your desktop and selecting the properties option.
Browser Recommendations
The ACEPT website is a constantly evolving web site in which we are trying to use as much new technology as we can when we find an appropriate use for it. How this affects different browsers can be difficult to say, however, your browser should have the following capabilities:
- java and javascript support
- forms support
- support for gif and jpeg image formats
- frames support
Additional features that aren't currently required but may be useful in the future:
- Support for the png image format
- a VRML plug-in
- a quicktime and/or mpeg movie plug-in
