ACEPT

ACEPT is currently in the process of upgrading our Internet server, from a Macintosh Quadra 950, to a Pentium based PC running the Linux operating system. The web site has been "ported" to the new machine, and we are now in the process of re-organizing and revamping some of the web pages to add the ability to easily extend our site's user interface. In addition, some new tools are being added to the site, such as automatic logfile rotation and site statistics analysis, and a better set of template files to increase the speed and ease of developing new web pages. We are also looking forward to adding support for CGI scripting and forms, which will include registration forms for upcoming ACEPT related meetings and the ability to run keyword searches on our web site to quickly locate specific information in our web pages. A new set of web pages is being developed to provide information about courses that are incorporating the new teaching philosophy advocated by ACEPT. These pages will be ordered by subject (e.g. Biology,Chemistry, Education, Geology, Math,) and will contain information about where courses are being taught (ASU, Maricopa Community Colleges, Navajo Community College), a course description, and provide a link to the course home page.

Finally, we have been selected by NSF to develop the Collaborative for Excellence in Teacher Preparation (CETP) Physics Website which will be a means of communication for Collaboratives nationwide that are reforming physics education.
