Ruth Benallie

I grew up on the Navajo Reservation in Northern Arizona. My early years were spent at the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) boarding schools where my parents were employed as dorm attendants; and my father was also a police officer for the BIA. During WWII my father was a member of the famed Navajo Code Talkers. In 1959, my parents became permanent residents of Monument Valley, Utah and that has since been home. I attended one semester at Northern Arizona University, then known as Arizona State College, and two years at Albuquerque Business College. I was employed with the Navajo Nation until 1990, resigning to attend Arizona State University. I am now working toward my bachelor's degree in Finance. My target date for graduation is May 1997.

Presently, I am the Accounting Specialist for the ACEPT Project at Arizona State University since September 1995.
